A game of thinking ideal for mathematical development. Use initially for younger children to help them puzzle out balance, as the monkey hangs further from the tree trunk the weight is multiplied. They will need to think carefully to make the tree balance and help the monkeys stay on. As your child begins to learn basic multiplication and addition this game helps them calculate simple calculations to help them balance the monkeys. It works simply, each hole has a value – the holes nearest to the trunk =1, the second hole =2 and the furthest hole=3. To balance the tree simply hang the monkeys to form equal equations. For example one monkey hanging on the left side from the furthest hole (3) will balance equally with three monkeys forming a chain under the hole closest to the trunk (1) i.e. 3x1 = 3x1.
